Error 500 when changing and saving contact type

Steps to reproduce
1. Open jcommun -> login
2. Open profile -> Contacts
3. Use Web Developer: Forms -> Convert select elements to text inputs
4. Enter text into a field with drop-down menu and Save changes
Actual result: 500 Internal Server Error
Expected result: Page should be updated without change.
